Hailing from Durban, South Africa, the 4 piece rock outfit, Starplayer, started out in early 2001. Over the course of 9 years, the band have accomplished on stage, in the studio and on radio.
After releasing their first studio album, "Truth Follows Fiction", Starplayer had 4 singles playlised across numerous radio stations including 5fm, East Coast Radio, OFM, Tuks FM. The band also were priveleged to perform at The Mr Price Pro, Splashy Fen, FHM Homegrown Honeys and Levin's Vintage Sundays and were invited to perform nationally with Tree63.
Over the course of 9 years, Starplayer have had no less than 10 songs selected for radio and in doing so have grown their fanbase considerably and attracted the attention of Epic Records, Dave Thompson, Brian 'o Shea and event Pete Townsend and received acclaim from top local artists and international artist Jimmy Eat World.
In late 2009, Starplayer were signed to record label, Musketeer Records, who released the bands second full length studio album, "The Way The World Turns". The album currently has two singles out on rotation on radio across South Africa - "Lights" and "Learn From Mistakes".
The band have shared stages with numerous South African artists including Boo, Squeal, Springbok Nude Girls, Zebra & Giraffe, Stealing Love Jones, Plush, Wonderboom, Tree63 and have performed at events throughout South Africa.
The bands style of pure rock is in your face, impactful and with catchy melodies with slight influences of Jimmy Eat World, Incubus, Foo Fighters yet still very Starplayer. Sometimes it's just better to let the music speak for itself... enjoy!
